Greek Data Center Association Launched to Drive Industry Growthand Strengthen the Digital Economy

Athens, May 5, 2025

In response to the rising demand for data, driven by evolving user needs, and the growing requirement for efficient and resilient data center infrastructure in Greece, a new industry body has been established to support and accelerate sector development. The country’s strategic location in Southeastern Europe and its emerging role as a digital gateway further underline the importance of this initiative.

The Greek Data Center Association (GRDCA) has officially launched as a non-profit organization representing the shared economic, legal, commercial, and technical interests of companies that operate, build, or own data centers in Greece. The Association aims to serve as the unified voice of the industry in national and international forums and to support its sustainable growth.

The GRDCA’s mission is to foster a robust, competitive data center ecosystem in Greece by creating a favorable environment for investment and expansion. Its objectives include streamlining the development and operational processes for new infrastructure, enhancing energy efficiency and sustainability, and promoting workplace safety and corporate responsibility.

The Association will take an active role in policy advocacy, talent development, and industry upskilling, working closely with academic institutions to support specialized training. It also plans to drive innovation and research, while strengthening collaboration between the public and private sectors on both domestic and international levels.

Given the strategic importance of data centers to the digital economy, the GRDCA will ensure the industry is well-represented in exhibitions, institutional engagements, and international partnerships. It will promote awareness and foster dialogue among stakeholders on key issues facing the industry.

Committed to ethical conduct and fair competition, the Association will operate under clear compliance guidelines and codes of conduct to ensure transparency and equitable development across the sector. Through this, it aspires to position Greece as a key digital infrastructure hub in the broader European and Mediterranean landscape.

Initial members of the GRDCA include:
Digital Realty Hellas, Data 4 Greece, Sparkle, Schneider Electric, LDK Consultants, JEPA, Hill International, IFSAS, CORDIA, and BLUESUN.

The Association welcomes additional members and professionals from across the ecosystem to join and contribute to its growing influence. Interested parties can reach out via info@grdca.gr.

Mr. Alexandros Bechrakis, Managing Director of Digital Realty Hellas, has been appointed Chairman of the Board and Managing Director. The initial Board of Directors includes representatives from Digital Realty Hellas, Data 4 Greece, Sparkle, and Schneider Electric.
